About AidEnvironment

AidEnvironment is a not-for-profit sustainability research, strategy and advisory organization that combines data, cutting-edge technology, systemic thinking and boots on the ground understanding to achieve transformative sector change. We produce actionable insights and implement sustainable solutions for NGOs, governments, finance institutions and businesses, with a goal to help protect and restore ecosystems and improve livelihoods.

We focus on:

  • Integrated Landscape and Water Management
  • Deforestation and exploitation Free Supply Chains
  • Sustainable Sector Transformation

AidEnvironment operates through a network of three offices, supported by a team of dedicated professionals. Our income, generated through consultancy assignments, project implementation, and grants, allows us to deliver meaningful impact

The organization was founded in 1988 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We work on international assignments in two areas of expertise. The team collaborates with private foundations, such as the Packard Foundation and IKEA Foundation, to combat climate change and carries out short-term consultancy assignments for civil society organizations to evaluate programs and provide technical advice.

In 2018, AidEnvironment opened a representative office in Kampala, Uganda, focusing on sustainable water and land use in East Africa. While a small team of four people was employed in 2019, there are currently 21 employees. The team aims to expand its portfolio of clients and funders, particularly to provide solutions for changes in land use.
After having built experience with mobilization of farmers and implementing projects on sustainable landscape management, in 2024 the registration of an AidEnvironment branch office in the Philippines was successfully completed.
An independent organization in Indonesia was established 10 years ago and focuses on deforestation issues in Southeast Asia’s palm oil and pulp and paper sectors. Their services range from supply chain monitoring to designing landscape restoration programs. They collaborate with private sector companies and private foundations, including the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. This office currently employs 32 people following a restructuring in 2020. This NGO operates completely independently from AidEnvironment, while maintaining good working relations

Governance structure of AidEnvironment
