Sustainability Analysis: PT Industrial Forest Plantation

This industrial tree concession in Central Kalimantan is the most prominent company in the landscape of Kapuas-Kahayan. Previously, this company was also featured in other reports by AidEnvironment.

There is evidence that PT IFP is a subsidiary of a large pulp and paper company in Indonesia that promotes sustainability in its daily operations. This company, APRIL, falls under a group called Royal Golden Eagle. Analysis has found that there was substantial forest clearing within the concession that does not align with the sustainability policies of the parent company. The parent company does not officially acknowledge this particular concession as part of their operation, further stating said that findings were erroneous.

It will be difficult to further conservation work particularly of the critical orangutan habitat in the Kahayan-Kapuas landscape, without cooperation from PT IFP.
