EU to punish import illegal timber
The import of illegally logged timber is to be punishable in the EU. On 16 June the European parliament reached an agreement with the governments of member states. Their initial proposal had been less far-reaching, but the European parliament succeeded in negotiating a complete ban. Early in July the European parliament will vote on the proposed regulation.
